Abstract:

Managers and engineers often need to model the problems facing for analytic decision making. Quadratically constrained quadratic programming models form a major step toward formulating real-life problems involving nonlinearity and nonconvexity. A toolbox with state-of-the-art methodologies

may provide more advanced modeling capabilities for better analysis and sounder decisions. In this talk, we present some recent progresses on quadratic optimization with quadratic constraints in view of linear conic programming theory and techniques.

Speaker:

Shu-Cherng Fang is the Walter Clark Chair and University Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor in the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department of the North Carolina State University, USA. Before joining NC State, he was Senior Member of Research Staff at Western Electric Engineering Research Center, Supervisor at AT&T Bell Labs, and Department Manager at the Corporate Headquarters of AT&T Technologies. Professor Fang’ s research interests include large‐scale optimization, neural computing and fuzzy systems with applications to intelligent human machine decision support systems for manufacturing, logistics and telecommunications.
