Title: Duality theory via Fourier-Motzkin Elimination

Abstract:
We explore how Fourier-Motzkin elimination, a standard tool in finite dimensional linear programming, can be used to understand the duality theory of more general optimization problems, including semi-infinite linear, convex and conic programming.
This is joint work with Amitabh Basu (Johns Hopkins) and Kipp Martin (University of Chicago).
Biography:
Chris is currently an Assistant Professor of Operations Management at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He has two major streams of research interest. The first is in optimization theory and algorithms, including infinite-dimensional optimization, algorithmic game theory, bilevel and discrete optimization. Chris’s second stream of research interest is optimization and decision-making in the digital economy. Chris is currently collaborating with companies in the video game space and has contributed to articles on a leading video game industry website.
