Seminar: Approximate String Matching on Texts
Seminar
Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management
The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Title : Approximate String Matching on Texts
Speaker : Prof. Xiaochun Yang
Date : Oct. 5, 2012 (Friday)
Time : 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Venue : Room 513
William M.W. Mong Engineering Building

Abstract:
Alignments on Texts are important in many applications such as record linkage, spell checking, Web search, and biosequence search.
It is challenging to support alignments efficiently on large amounts of data or long texts. Despite its importance, the problem did
not receive enough attention in the research community a decade ago. In this talk, I will give an overview of our recent results on
his problem and introduce our package, an open-source software that supports efficient alignments on texts.
Biography:
Xiaochun Yang is a professor in the Department of Computer Science at Northeastern University (China). She received her Ph.D. degree
