Transforming the Way in Managing Operational Risks in a Global Financial Organization
Title: Transforming the Way in Managing Operational Risks in a Global Financial Organization
Speaker: Mr Raymond Cheng, Group GM & Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific, HSBC
Date: 20 Feb 2019 (Wed)
Time: 5:00pm – 6:15pm
Venue: CUHK Business School Town Centre, Central
Abstract
Operational risks in banking describe any failure regarding people, processes, systems, and external events that would stop the bank from functioning normally. Effective management of those risks is crucial to bank’s operation, particularly within a global financial organisation. Traditionally we have relied on a series of small-sample audits and spot checks to detect and remediate operational risks. Such approach can be effective, but it is, by definition, limited in scope. The seminar will address the challenges banks are facing regarding operational risk management, and how we can reshape risk management capabilities by leveraging emerging technologies and gain significant competitive advantages in digital era.
